Release of PC-BSD 9.0 is based on the code base FreeBSD 9.0-Release, this is the first release of PC-BSD, giving the user a choice of desktop environments (KDE 4.7.3, GNOME 2.32.2, Lxde 0.5.5, Xfce 4.8) and window managers. One of the novelties in the PC-BSD 9.0 has PBI Manager, a set of command line tools for package management format PBI (Push Button Installer); improved system PBI allows sharing of libraries, updating only the changed binary data packets, supports digital signatures and creating their own repositories .
New control panel offers a single interface configuration for various window managers and desktop environments, improved network configuration utility, supports quick configuration Wi-Fi. Another new tool, Life-Preserver-based rsync, easy to create backups of user data. Supports installation of PC-BSD on BootCamp partition systems, Mac OS X. Available images for VMWare and VirtualBox with integrated tools for guests. Supports UFS logging is implemented without the need for further adjustments.
